Vet Voice Encouraged by First Step Towards Permanent Re-authorization of LWCF
WASHINGTON, DC – The Vet Voice Foundation, which has long championed protection of public lands and historic battlefields, is cheering a compromise deal, now moving ahead in the House of Representatives, that would permanently reauthorize the Land and Water Conservation Fund (LWCF).
In a statement, Major General (Ret.) Paul D. Eaton, managing director of the Vet Voice Foundation said:
“Veterans and all Americans who treasure our public lands, and our historic battlefields, are encouraged by the first step taken by the House Natural Resources Committee today to permanently reauthorizing the Land and Water Conservation Fund. This fund is absolutely crucial in protecting lands that our veterans use to walk off the war, and the historic lands where our forefathers shed blood on the battlefield. These are all lands that we love, and must protect for future generations. It is heartening to see Congressional Democrats and Republicans come together, to do what’s right. We’re hopeful that Speaker Ryan agrees, and will help make a permanent LWCF into a reality.”
