VVF believes that war is always a last resort, not a first option. VVF works to protect our service members and the homeland by advocating for policies that promote diplomacy first and avoid unnecessary wars.

Examples of our legislative priorities include reforming executive branch war powers, repealing outdated authorizations for use of military force, and supporting nuclear nonproliferation and arms control agreements, and standing up for our allies.

Having served overseas as the tip of the spear of American foreign policy, Veterans have a unique perspective on the consequences of policy decisions. VVF’s foreign policy campaigns ensure Veterans voices are heard in the debates and decision-making processes that will impact service members and America’s influence, standing, and security around the globe.
