Vet Voice Cranks Up the Heat on Lame Duck Congress to Save LWCF Following Veterans Day

Organization Sends Vets to Capitol Hill, Sponsors WaPo Wrap & Mobile Billboard

(Washington, DC) – Today, veterans from across the nation are descending on Capitol Hill to call out congressional leadership for breaking their promise to save and fully fund the Land and Water Conservation Fund. Congress’ inability to move any plans forward to ensure long-lasting protection for our public lands and historic battlefields led to a humiliating failure and expiration of the program at the end of September.

“On the heels of Veterans Day, the continued expiration and lack of funding for the LWCF is a slap in the face to American veterans who count on our public lands and waters to honor our heroes and reflect on our heritage,” said Garett Reppenhagen, Rocky Mountain Director at Vet Voice Foundation. “The brave men and women who have sacrificed to protect this country deserve better than spineless congressional leaders — this is exactly why Americans became so fed up with Congress. Mitch McConnell and Paul Ryan — are you finally going to do your job or continue to turn your back on us?”

Coinciding with today’s fly-in, Vet Voice Foundation is sponsoring a mobile billboard that is circulating the streets of Capitol Hill throughout the week and a Washington Post Capitol Hill Wrap for Thursday (11/15).
