Vet Voice Foundation and PFLAG National Join Together For New Ad Campaign In Advance of SCOTUS Case on Transgender Rights

Digital Ad Campaign Will Run In DC, TX and NC During Oral Arguments in U.S. v. Skrmetti

Vet Voice Foundation and PFLAG National today announced a new ad campaign in support of transgender rights in advance of the Supreme Court case U.S. v. Skrmetti.

The ad called “Branden’s Daughter” is a compelling, direct testimonial ad from a father simply asking for the chance to give his trans daughter the freedom to be herself. Like most parents, he wants all his children to have access to the opportunities every child deserves, without onerous interference by political activists using the levers of government to target them. Branden, the veteran at the center of the “Branden’s Daughter” ad, was a Navy aviator for thirteen years.

You can see the ad here: https://youtu.be/wW8TaIg3tlk

The ad will run in Washington DC as well as Texas and North Carolina, two states with legislation targeting transgender youth. It will run during oral arguments in the case.

“Branden just wants for his daughter what all parents want for their kids, opportunity and freedom,” said Janessa Goldbeck, United States Marine Corps Veteran and CEO, Vet Voice Foundation. “Kids should not become political footballs used by politicians to advance extreme agendas. And parents, not the government, should be able to decide together with their doctors and health professionals what is best for their children. We’re taking this message to the Supreme Court and key states.”

“Veteran dads like Branden and their families provide the backbone of our nation through their commitment to service and to protecting every American’s freedom to thrive. Yet, because political actors have spread misinformation about transgender youth, families like Branden’s can’t live free from fear. PFLAG is honored to partner with Vet Voice Foundation and proud veterans like Branden, because you didn’t serve for your families to not be free,” said Brian K. Bond, (he/him), CEO of PFLAG National.

About U.S. v. Skrmetti:

The Biden Administration has challenged a Tennessee law that restricts puberty blockers and hormone therapy for transgender minors. In this case, U.S. v. Skrmetti, the Administration asserts the unconstitutionality of state bans on gender-affirming care as violating the equal protection clause, as well as federal laws incorporating transgender Americans as protected from discrimination.

Oral arguments in the case will begin on Wednesday, Dec. 4.
