Vet Voice Foundation Condemns Executive Order Restricting Military Voting Rights

WASHINGTON, D.C.Vet Voice Foundation CEO and Marine Corps Veteran Janessa Goldbeck today issued the following statement in response to President Trump’s executive order cynically titled “Preserving and Protecting the Integrity of American Elections”:

“This executive order is a power grab—plain and simple. It’s a direct threat to the rights of everyday Americans, especially those who’ve worn the uniform.

“By trying to block vote-by-mail and force states to follow federal rules that break the law, this order tramples the Constitution and decades of bipartisan support for absentee voting—especially for troops serving overseas.

“Every election, hundreds of thousands of active-duty service members count on absentee ballots to vote. So do Veterans who are homebound, recovering from injuries, or live too far from a polling place. This order puts their votes at risk. It’s an attempt to silence the very people who risked everything to protect our democracy.

“The rules are simple: states run elections—not Washington. Any effort to bully states into breaking the law isn’t just illegal—it’s un-American.”

Vet Voice Foundation will continue to advocate for the voting rights of military families, Veterans, and troops stationed or deployed overseas, and urges elected officials, election administrators, and legal experts across the country to reject this dangerous assault on democratic values.
