Vet Voice Foundation Support for Proposed Caja del Rio National Monument
We applaud the years of hard work from Tribes and Pueblos, local governments, business owners, and community organizations to permanently project the Caja del Rio, one of America’s most iconic landscapes. Vet Voice Foundation is proud to lend our voice in support of the locally driven effort to see the proposed Caja del Rio National Monument become a reality.
This breathtaking landscape is both of significant cultural, historical, archaeological, and ecological importance and one of the most endangered in the American Southwest. A national monument is not only warranted but necessary to protect this place from growing and serious threats including illegal dumping, looting and damage to cultural resources, mining, and illegal roads.
We’re ready to do our part to ensure the voices of veterans and military families in support of this campaign have our voices heard — in New Mexico and in Washington, D.C. Veterans consistently turn to our nation’s public lands in the wake of our military service for recreation and reflection, reunion and revitalization. Our shared public lands are vital to the well-being of veterans and military families.
We urge the Biden Administration to designate Caja del Rio as a national monument – for
veterans and non-veterans alike, and for generations to come.
