Veterans Applaud President Biden’s Pledge to Permanently Protect Avi Kwa Ame

WASHINGTON, DC – Earlier today, President Biden pledged to permanently protect Avi Kwa Ame. In reaction, Vet Voice Foundation CEO Janessa Goldbeck released the following statement:

“We want to offer our sincere thanks to President Biden, Secretary Haaland, and others in the administration for their pledge to permanently protect Avi Kwa Ame.

“For years, a coalition of Tribes, local residents, veterans, conservation and recreation groups, and others have been working to see the Avi Kwa Ame National Monument made a reality – safeguarded from development.

“Because of its connection to Native peoples – a group that has the highest per-capita representation of any in the U.S. Armed Forces – Avi Kwa Ame is also a special place for veterans and military families.

Today, we’re one step closer to an Avi Kwa Ame National Monument which will ensure this sacred place can be enjoyed by veterans and non-veterans alike for years to come.”
