VVF Statement on the Release of President Biden’s America the Beautiful Initiative
Washington, D.C. — Today the Biden administration released their highly-anticipated America the Beautiful Initiative, which outlines a vision for conserving 30 percent of U.S. lands and waters by 2030. In reaction to the release, Vet Voice Foundation’s Mary Kaszynski released the following statement:
“President Biden should be applauded for keeping his promise to make our public lands and waterways a top priority of his administration by laying out this bold, ambitious plan to conserve 30 percent of our nation’s lands and waters by the year 2030.
“This is a major victory for veterans and military families. Veterans have a longstanding and well-documented relationship with environmental conservation and many believe safeguarding these wildspaces is an extension of their service.
“Throughout the process of developing the America the Beautiful Initiative, the Biden administration spent a lot of time listening — to recreationists, business owners, anglers, hunters, Tribal leaders, and, yes, veterans. Through this effort, we were all once again reminded that not only are these efforts necessary, but they’re also widely popular across political ideologies and throughout the country.
“We’re at the ready to do everything in our power to ensure this plan is made a reality and our nation’s treasured public lands are around and safeguarded for generations to come.”
