VVF Statement Regarding President Donald Trump's Proposed Budget
Vet Voice Foundation’s Will Goodwin, a US Army veteran, released the following statement following the release of the president’s budget:
“Once again, President Trump and Secretary Bernhardt have shown their true colors and reminded us that they see our nation’s public lands as nothing more than places for exploitation. Their latest proposal to cut funding for the Land and Water Conservation Fund by 97% is a broadside against our nation’s veterans, who have long-turned to our public lands — places like parks and historic battlefields — for healing and reflection as they transition out of the military and back to civilian life.
“This is the latest in President Trump’s pattern of disrespect towards our service members and veterans — coming on the heels of his suggestion that troops diagnosed with traumatic brain injury (TBI) simply “have headaches.”
“Regardless of who holds the office, the President’s budget proposal is a reflection of their values. There’s no doubt about it: with this budget, we know President Trump and Secretary Bernhardt neither value our veterans nor our public lands.”
