Vet Voice Foundation Statement on The 116th Anniversary of the Antiquities Act

Washington, D.C. — Today our nation celebrates the 116th anniversary of the Antiquities Act. In response, Vet Voice Foundation CEO, Janessa Goldbeck, released the following statement:

“From the day military veteran and president of the United States Theodore Roosevelt signed the Antiquities Act into law to today, veterans have been at the forefront of protecting this law and the lands it safeguards. 

“The Antiquities Act is, in military terms, a force multiplier. This tool has been used by presidents to protect some of our most treasured wild spaces for generations to come — keeping them safe and open to the public. 

“Today, we again call on President Biden — in the spirit of his fellow president and our fellow veteran Teddy Roosevelt — to use the powers bestowed to him through the Antiquities Act to protect places that are so important to veterans, military families, and all Americans — places like the Castner Range in west Texas and Avi Kwa Ame in southern Nevada.”
