Vet Voice Foundation Joins Over Two Dozen Organizations Calling On Gov. Whitmer To Recall Michigan National Guard Forces From Washington, DC
Today, Vet Voice Foundation joined a coalition of organizations to send a clear message to Governor Whitmer: Withdraw Michigan’s National Guard forces from Washington, DC.
While the official deployment was meant for security for the Independence Day 250th anniversary event, Michigan Guard forces are currently under a chain of command patrolling local neighborhoods against the will of residents and local government.
“The use of the military to support civilian law enforcement should be a last resort in cases where emergencies have overwhelmed civilian authorities. That is clearly not the case in DC.”
Governor Whitmer has the legal right under 32 U.S.C. § 502(f) to decline this deployment. We urge her to exercise it.
