Vet Voice Foundation Statement on the Great American Outdoors Act Being Signed into Law
The Vet Voice Foundation’s Will Goodwin, a US Army veteran, released the following statement today:
“After years of campaigning, the Great American Outdoors Act is law and the Land and Water Conservation Fund is permanently and fully-funded. This is a historic, bipartisan victory for veterans, for military families — for all Americans.
“The Great American Outdoors Act celebrated support from 3/4 of both the House and Senate — a testament to both the hard work advocates from every corner of the country performed as well as the public’s overwhelming support of our treasured public lands.
“Veterans and military families — as part of a larger coalition — have made phone calls, sent letters, written OpEds, attended town halls, and traveled to Washington, D.C. to help us get to this point.
“We’ve stressed throughout this campaign the importance of our nation’s public lands to veterans and military families — serving as places of refuge, reflection, and reunion.
“There’s more work to be done. There always is. But this is a moment we’ll remember and celebrate when we find ourselves enjoying LWCF-funded sites like parks, trails, and military heritage sites. See you there.”
